Robins Blog -- Fail faster

Robins Blog -- Fail faster

Full-disclosure: I'm not the first to use the term "Fail Faster". But I love it. Coca-Cola CEO Neville Isdell, at the annual meeting informed shareholders that the company was now going on an innovation tear and that his organization's reinvention plan was contained in a document entitled The Manifesto for Growth (I adore that title). He noted that spending on marketing and innovation would increase by $400,000,000 and then - and here's the big line - observed: "You will see some failures. As we take more risks, this is something we must accept as part of the regeneration process." Which brings me to the imperative of Failing Fast.

At a leadership presentation I gave a while ago to the sales team of a big pharmaceutical company, someone came up to me afterwards and said: "Robin, I loved your speech. Especially the idea about failure being the price of greatness." Too many of us fear failure so we don't even try (Seneca once said: "It is not because things are difficult that we do not dare. It is because we do not dare that things are difficult"). Too many of us are afraid (there's that fear thing again) of looking silly or being embarrassed by failure so we don't take the risk and seize an opportunity. Too many of us think failure is bad. It isn't. It's good.

There can be no success without failure. Failure is just part of the process. The companies and people who have reached the heights of success are the same ones who have failed the most. You need to fail to win. And the faster you fail, the more quickly you'll learn precisely what you need to do to win. So Fail Fast. Out fail the competition. Out fail the person you once were.

I'll leave you with a quote from RFK: "Only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly." Perfect.

Power of your thoughts

Power of Your Thoughts

You can choose your thoughts. This may not seem true, but nobody in the world can put a thought in your head without your permission. Your mind belongs to you!
It's your job to control your thoughts! You are the master of your head; you are the guardian of your thoughts. You can change them. Choose those thoughts that will bring you the results you want.
Never think a thing you don't want to happen.
Read that again : never think a thought you don't want to become true.
It means : don't think anything negative about yourself, if you don't want this thought to become real. If you don't want to be lazy, stop thinking you are. If you don't want to be shy, stop rehearsing in your head how shy you are now.
Instead of these destructive thoughts, choose thoughts which reinforce you. Choose to think how hard working you are, and you will be! Choose to think how friendly you are, and you will shine like a star! Choose to think you are loved, and you will be!
Thoughts are energy. Every thought carries an energy level. Your choice : do you choose thoughts which lower your energy level, or do you choose thoughts which increase your energy level.
It's in your hands! Or better : it's in your head! How you will feel and act depends on what you think. Every action and emotion is preceded by a thought.
You can choose thoughts which block you, or even paralyze you.
It isn't any more difficult to watch your thoughts to be able to choose them consciously. It's just a matter of exercise and consciousness.
Once you've learned how to become the master of your thoughts, you become the master of your life!
If checking your thoughts seems too difficult for now, you can start watching your mouth. Never let come out of your mouth something you don't want to happen! Watch your mouth, watch your words, watch your thoughts, and become the creator of your own life!

How To Be Happy

Hi,

Here is Happiness. Do Enjoy it 24x7 and every moment.

          Good Day.

How To Be Happy

Happiness is like a butterfly,
the more you chase it,
the more it will allude you,
but if you turn your attention
to other things, it will come
and sit softly on your shoulder.

The place to be happy is here.
the time to be happy is now.

Laugh when you can,
apologize when you should, and let go
of what you can't change.
Life is too short to be anything but happy.

Whoever is happy will make others happy too.

You don't stop laughing because you grow old,
you grow old because you stop laughing.

Money never did buy happiness,
and credit cards aren't doing much better.

The heart is happiest when it beats for others.

For every minute you are angry,
you lose 60 seconds of happiness.

Someday everything will make perfect sense.
So for now, laugh at the confusion,
 Smile through the tears,
And keep reminding yourself
That everything happens for a reason.

1 x 8 + 1 = 9
12 x 8 + 2 = 98
123 x 8 + 3 = 987

98765 x 9 + 3 = 888888
987654 x 9 + 2 = 8888888
9876543 x 9 + 1 = 88888888
98765432 x 9 + 0 = 888888888

Brilliant, isn't it?

And look at this symmetry:

1 x 1 = 1
11 x 11 = 121
111 x 111 = 12321
1111 x 1111 = 1234321
11111 x 11111 = 123454321
111111 x 111111 = 12345654321
1111111 x 1111111 = 1234567654321
11111111 x 11111111 = 123456787654321
111111111 x 111111111 = 12345678987654321

Heaven and Hell- story

A man was having a conversation with the Lord one day and said, "Lord, I would like to know what Heaven and Hell are like."

The Lord led the man to two doors. He opened one of the doors and the holy man looked in.

In the middle of the room was a large round table. In the middle of the table was a large pot of stew which smelled delicious and made the holy man's mouth water.

But the people sitting around the table were thin and sickly. They appeared to be famished. They were holding spoons with very long handles that were strapped to their arms and each found it possible to reach into the pot of stew and take a spoonful, but because the handle was longer than their arms, they could not get the spoons back into their mouths. The holy man shuddered at the sight of their misery and suffering. The Lord said, 'You have seen Hell.'

They then went to the next room and opened the door. It was exactly the same as the first one. There was the large round table with the large pot of stew which made the holy man's mouth water. The people were equipped with the same long-handled spoons, but here the people were well nourished and plump, laughing and talking.

The man said, "I don't understand."

"It is simple" said the Lord, "In this place the people have learned to feed one another."

An incident on the Power of Shiva

In 1879, when there was British were ruling in India, Lt. Col. Martin of Agar Malva was leading the army in the war against Afghanistan.

Col. Martin used to regularly send messages of his well-being to his wife. The war continued for long & Lady Martin stopped getting messages. She was very upset.
Once riding on her horse, she passed by the temple of Baijnath Mahadev. She was attracted to the sound of Conch & Mantra. She went inside and came to know that the Brahmanas were worshipping Lord Shiva. They saw her sad face and asked her problem. She explained everything to them. They told her that Lord Shiva listens to the prayers of devotees and takes them out of difficult situations in no time. With the advice of the Brahmanas she started the 'Laghurudri Anushtthan' of the Mantra: 'Om Namah Shivaya' for 11 days. She prayed to Lord Shiva that if her husband reaches home safely, then she would get the temple renovated.

On the last of the 'Laghurudri' a messenger came and gave a letter to her. Her husband had written: 'I was regularly sending messages to you from the battle grounds but suddenly the Afghani Pathans surrounded us from all sides. We were entrapped in a situation where there was no scope of escaping death. Suddenly I saw a Yogi of India with long hair, carrying a weapon with three pointers (Trishul). His personality was amazing and he was maneuvering his weapon with a magnificent style. Seeing this great man, the Pathans started running back. With his grace our bad times turned into moments of victory. This was possible only because of that man of India wearing a lion skin & carrying a three-pointer weapon (Trishul). That great Yogi told me that I should not worry and that he had come to rescue me because he was very pleased with my wife's prayers.'

Tears of joy were falling down the eyes of Lady Martin's eyes while reading the letter. Her heart was overwhelmed. She fell into the feet of Lord Shiva's statue and burst in tears.

After a few weeks Col. Martin returned. Lady Martin narrated the whole incident to him. Now both husband & wife became devotees of Lord Shiva. In 1883 they donated Rs. 15,000 for renovating the temple. The information engraved slab for the same is still there in the Baijnath Mahadev Temple of Agar Malva. This is the only Hindu temple built by the British.

When Lady Martin left for Europe she said that they would make Shiva Temple at their home and pray to Him till the end of life.

This temple is located in Agar city, Shajapur district, in the state of Madhya Pradesh. It is situated along the Indore-Kota highway.

So, aap samaj hi gaye honge k 'Shiva ji' se apne bhakton ke dukh nahi dekhe jate aur woh apne bhakton ki thodi si bhakti aur karunamayi pukaar sun kar daude chale aate hain...

I already said in my many posts that the Hindu religion is a perfect combination of scientific facts and miracles. And when it comes to 'Shankar' Bhagwaan, then we can only say that he is supreme lord of the universe, nothing is hidden from him, just remember him with true feelings once only, he will come and solve your all problems.

10 Principles for Peace of Mind

1. Do Not Interfere In Others' Business Unless Asked:

Most of us create our own problems by interfering too often in others' affairs. We do so because somehow we have convinced ourselves that our way is the best way, our logic is the perfect logic and those who do not conform to our thinking must be criticized and steered to the right direction, our direction. This thinking denies the existence of individuality and consequently the existence of God.. God has created each one of us in a unique way. No two human beings can think or act inexactly the same way. All men or women act the way they do because God within them prompts them that way. Mind your own business and you will keep your peace.

2. Forgive And Forget:

This is the most powerful aid to peace of mind. We often develop ill feelings inside our heart for the person who insults us or harms us. We nurture grievances. This in turn results in loss of sleep, development of stomach ulcers, and high blood pressure. This insult or injury was done once, but nourishing of grievance goes on forever by constantly remembering it. Get over this bad habit. Life is too short to waste in such trifles. Forgive & Forget, and march on. Love flourishes in giving and forgiving.

3. Do Not Crave For Recognition:

This world is full of selfish people. They seldom praise anybody without selfish motives. They may praise you today because you are in power, but no sooner than you are powerless, they will forget your achievement and will start finding faults in you. Why do you wish to kill yours if in striving for their recognition? Their recognition is not worth the aggravation. Do your duties ethically and sincerely.

4. Do Not Be Jealous:

We all have experienced how jealousy can disturb our peace of mind. You know that you work harder than your colleagues in the office, but sometimes they get promotions; you do not. You started a business several years ago, but you are not as successful as your neighbor whose business is only one year old. There are several examples like these in everyday life. Should you be jealous? No. Remember everybody's life is shaped by his/her destiny, which has now become his/her reality. If you are destined to be rich, nothing in the world can stop you. If you are not so destined, no one can help you either. Nothing will be gained by blaming others for your misfortune. Jealousy will not get you anywhere; it will only take away your peace of mind.

5. Change Yourself According To The Environment:

If you try to change the environment single-handedly, the chances are you will fail. Instead, change yourself to suit your environment. As you do this, even the environment, which has been unfriendly to you, will mysteriously change and seem congenial and harmonious.

6. Endure What Cannot Be Cured:

This is the best way to turn a disadvantage into an advantage. Every day we face numerous inconveniences, ailments, irritations, and accidents that are beyond our control. If we cannot control them or change them, we must learn to put up with these things. We must learn to endure them cheerfully. Believe in yourself and you will gain in terms of patience, inner strength and will power.

7. Do Not Bite Off More Than You Can Chew:

This maxim needs to be remembered constantly. We often tend to take more responsibilities than we are capable of carrying out. This is done to satisfy our ego. Know your limitations. . Why take on additional loads that may create more worries? You cannot gain peace of mind by expanding your external activities. Reduce your material engagements and spend time in prayer, introspection and meditation. This will reduce those thoughts in your mind that make you restless. Uncluttered mind will produce greater peace of mind.

8. Meditate Regularly:

Meditation calms the mind and gets rid of disturbing thoughts. This is the highest state of peace of mind. Try and experience it yourself. If you meditate earnestly for half an hour every day, your mind will tend to become peaceful during the remaining twenty-three and half-hours. Your mind will not be easily disturbed as it was before. You would benefit by gradually increasing the period of daily meditation. You may think that this will interfere with your daily work. On the contrary, this will increase your efficiency and you will be able to produce better results in less time.

9. Never Leave The Mind Vacant:

An empty mind is the devil's workshop. All evil actions start in the vacant mind. Keep your mind occupied in something positive, something worthwhile. Actively follow a hobby. Do something that holds your interest. You must decide what you value more: money or peace of mind. Your hobby, like social work or religious work, may not always earn you more money, but you will have a sense of fulfillment and achievement. Even when you are resting physically, occupy yourself in healthy reading or chanting of God's name.

10. Do Not Procrastinate And Never Regret:

Do not waste time in protracted wondering "Should I or shouldn't I?" Days, weeks, months, and years may be wasted in that futile mental debating. You can never plan enough because you can never anticipate all future happenings. Value your time and do the things that need to be done. It does not matter if you fail the first time. You can learn from your mistakes and succeed the next time. Sitting back and worrying will lead to nothing. Learn from your mistakes, but do not brood over the past. DO NOT REGRET. Whatever happened was destined to happen only that way. Why cry over spilt milk?
